Moritz Wullenkord is a research assistant at the Chair of Social Theory and Social Psychology.
He studied Social Science, German Studies and Philosophy at the Ruhr University Bochum, the Universidad de Oviedo and the Universidade de Coimbra. Alongside his studies, he worked as a tutor for the lecture "Introduction to Social and Cultural Psychology" at the Chair of Social Theory and Social Psychology and as a tutor in the introductory module of the Faculty of Social Sciences. He was also involved as a research assistant in the edition of Hans Kilian's Collected Writings and is currently working with Pradeep Chakkarath on the publication of volume 6. He was also a research assistant in the DFG-funded international research project ‘GEN-MIGRA’ at the Technical University of Dortmund.
During his Master's degree, he was supported by a German scholarship from the Köhler Foundation and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and was a member of the Hans Kilian and Lotte Köhler Center for Social and Cultural Psychology and Historical Anthropology. Together with other scholarship holders, he organized a lecture series on social and cultural science perspectives on memory cultures in the summer semester of 2022 and a symposium on the (new) right-wing restoration of images of masculinity in the summer semester of 2023. During his studies, he also worked as a volunteer and freelancer in various historical and political education projects and as a tutor in a shelter for unaccompanied refugee minors.
After completing his studies, he was awarded a doctoral scholarship by the Köhler Foundation.
Moritz Wullenkord is currently working on an empirical dissertation under the supervision of Prof Dr Jürgen Straub with the working title ‘Rechte Zukunft? A qualitative study of young AfD sympathisers‘ visions of the future’. Based on qualitative interviews with 16- to 25-year-old sympathisers of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, contributions in social media, Bundestag speeches and press releases of the party as well as articles in new right-wing publications, he is investigating the processes, content and political mobilisation of young AfD sympathisers' visions of the future.
His main areas of research and interest are political psychology, political education, cultural psychology, critical theory and post-Marxism. Thematically, he is particularly interested in the social construction of images of the future as well as political authoritarianism, anti-Semitism and racism.
