Solange Martinez Demarco

I obtained my degree (Licenciatura) in Political Science from the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina). I also hold a Joint European Master in Comparative Local Development (University of Trento-Italy) and a Master of Arts in European Studies on Society, Science and Technology (MA ESST) (Maastricht University-the Netherlands). Between 2007 and 2017 I worked in the public administration in Argentina. Since September 2017 I am a research associate at the International Center for Ethics in the Sciences and Humanities (IZEW) at the University of Tübingen researching the social and ethical aspects of technologies such as disaster management tools, virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR) and information and communication technologies (ICTs).  

As a PhD student at the University of Bochum and part of Cultural Psychology and Anthropology of Knowledge team I will research the aspects that are not considered by current policy implementations and instruments related to closing the gender digital divide. In this regard, I will focus on volunteer communities and their values, ideas, motivations and practices (specially care practices) associated with diversity and inclusion strategies in ICTs.
