Marie-Jahoda Visiting Professor Programme in International Gender Studies

In 1994, Professor Ilse Lenz initiated the Marie-Jahoda Visiting Professor Programme in International Gender Studies at the Chair of Sociology/Social Inequality and Gender. This visiting professorship represents a beacon of international research and teaching across faculties at RUB and had an impact which exceeds the university’s reach, affecting gender studies in the German speaking world. The programme proved to be a success and kept delivering impulses for, and inspiring innovations in, theoretical and empirical research about gender-related questions. In addition, the programme’s teaching contributed to an international emphasis and an extension of the courses offered in the participating academic fields and the interdisciplinary Gender Studies programme at RUB.

Until 2019, the concept of the Marie-Jahoda Visiting Professor Programme continued to be enhanced in line with the Chair of Sociology/Social Inequality and Gender. An important focal point of this programme was the sustained consolidation of international cooperation in research and teaching.
