Living in Bochum

Theatre Bochum

The 'Schauspielhaus Bochum' is the theatre of Bochum. With your student card you have the possibility to get free tickets for regular events with the so-called theatre flat rate. Find out more about this on the website.

The Nextbike rental bikes can be found all over Bochum. As a student, you can use them for up to 1 hour free of charge. To do so, download the app "Nextbike" and register with your RUB email address.


Bochumer Symphoniker

The 'Bochumer Symphoniker' is a varied symphony orchestra. They play their concerts in Bochum at the Anneliese Brost Musikforum Ruhr.


Situation Art

The underground museum in the castle park 'Haus Weitmar' houses both a temporary exhibition and a permanent exhibition of works of landscape art.


Bergbaumuseum

The 'Bergbaumuseum' is a mining museum amd one of the most visited museums in the Ruhr area. There you can learn a lot about the history of the Ruhr area, which was shaped by mining. Admission is free for students of the RUB.


Planetarium

In the planetarium you can enjoy exciting events and shows with a view of the starry sky.


The lake 'Kemnader'

As a local recreation area, the lake 'Kemnader' offers a wide range of leisure activities: mini-golfing, boat trips, boat rental, inline skating, restaurants and much more.


Ruhrpark

The 'Ruhrpark' is the shopping centre of Bochum. There you will find over 150 shops for shopping, a food court and a cinema.


Bermuda3Eck

In the middle of Bochum's city centre you will find the 'Bermuda3Eck', where there is no shortage of bars, cinemas, pubs, snack bars and clubs.


Brewery Tour

The Moritz Fiege private brewery has been brewing beer since 1878. On a guided tour of the brewery you will get an impression of how beer is brewed as well as what it tastes like.


VfL Bochum

The 'VfL Bochum' football club plays in the 1st division of Germany. You can watch the club's games at the Vonovia Ruhrstadion.


Currywurst

Currywurst ist a bratwurst sausage served with curry-flavoured ketchup and french fries. They are part of the traditional food in the Ruhr area.
