Located in the midst of the dynamic, hospitable metropolitan area of the Ruhr, in the heart of Europe, the Ruhr-University Bochum is home to more than 4.500 international students from 130 countries. PhD students from more than 50 counties conduct their research at the graduate schools of the RUB. More than 200 international researchers visit RUB yearly.

The Faculty of Social Science contributes actively to the cosmopolitan character of the University. We take the motto of the RUB "people-centred – cosmopolitan – high performance“ as a binding standard for our activities. The integration in international networks and intensive international exchange is of particular significance for achieving our goal of interdisciplinary integration of research and teaching.

As a faculty oriented towards excellent standards, we are extending scientific cooperation with outstanding universities and institutions worldwide. A lively exchange of students bolsters the long-term integration of the fayulty in cooperation schemes with partner institutions worldwide. A consideration of international perspectives in teaching, an appreciation of cultural diversity and competence in dealing with interculturality are being especially promoted.
