I am currently doing an ethnographic case study for my master’s thesis on a data base system and its data infrastructure at a museum dedicated to a former steel and mining conglomerate. As of now, the data base by and large tells a rather homogenous story of white male workers. While switching to another data base management system, one goal in the studied project is to re-examine descriptions and labels of the collection items to represent more diverse positionalities within the data base as an information infrastructure that is open to public requests.
