Biography
Judith Lorber is a professor emeritus of sociology and women’s studies at the CUNY Graduate Center and Brooklyn College of the City University of New York, USA. From 1985 until 1986, she was vice-president of the Eastern Sociological Association. Furthermore, she was chairwomen of the sex and gender section of the American Sociological Association in 1992 and 1993. She received the Jessie Bernard Career Award of the American Sociological Association for her outstanding research in the field of women and gender studies. Lorber was also the founder of the renowned journal Gender & Society.
